Ruhanga Development School’ first started off as a nursery in 2008, with only about 25 children attending. Since then and with the help of international funding, we expanded and opened to primary students up to year 7 and now have over 500 children attending our school, many of which are boarders. When you join our sponsorship scheme you are helping to provide these children with an excellent but affordable education.
Low-cost education is the key to poverty eradication in Africa. £10 per month helps cover a child’s education for a full year. Your money will be sponsoring their school fees which includes salaries for the school’s staff (teachers, cooks, matrons, etc), teaching materials (textbooks and other essential supplies), one free meal a day as well as general maintenance and repair needed for the school.
In Ruhanga, many parents and carers are unable to provide even the most minimal money for school fees. There are very few jobs in the area and most adults are subsistence farmers with little income. In addition, many families are sheltering orphans alongside their own children. With this context, most of the children would go uneducated. Due to our donors we are able to heavily subsidise these children’s school fees, helping these families and securing their children’s place in school.
All your money goes out to Uganda and straight into the school fund where it is shared equally between all the children who are attending. Our sponsor a child program has no running costs. It’s entirely volunteer-ran, with no additional expenses. This means every penny of your £10 a month goes straight towards Uganda and the education of the child.
From as little as £10 a month, £2.5 a week you are giving a child a future. Why not start today?
