Volunteering in Africa
Volunteering in local schools

There are five schools within walking distance of Uganda Lodge - two senior, two primary and our own self-built nursery school.

Facilities are very basic although recent volunteers have improved the nursery school and bought equipment for the other village schools.

Volunteers have assisted in the schools in various ways to help the students improve their English as well as teaching sports and other skills.

An opportunity to link to a Ugandan Village School

The UK Education department actively encourages overseas links, and grants can be awarded to fund visits for teachers from either country.

All students learn to speak English and are keen to have contact with British school children. When links are formed between schools, it is beneficial to all involved.
