Getting Around Uganda
Arrival at Entebbe Airport
Entebbe Airport is where you will land on your arrival in Uganda. It is around 40 kms from the city centre and there are no direct buses, so its best to organise one of our drivers to meet you.
He will take you into Kampala and you change money etc. If its late in the day you will need to stay in Kampala for your first night, where a reasonable room will be about £10; the charge for an airport pick-up is about £25.
The cheapest way to get to Uganda Lodge is to go by bus – once you get on in Kampala you can get a bus that will drop you right outside the gates about 5-6 hours later at a cost of about £7. Your driver will make sure the bus people know where to drop you.
Alternatively you can book a 4×4 to take you all the way and perhaps you may choose to visit a national park en-route (Lake Mburo?) or go directly to the Lodge and keep the vehicle and driver for a longer safari. The cost of hire is £60 per day plus fuel.
If you arrive in Kampala from Nairobi by bus or public taxi (white mini-bus with a blue stripe round the middle) then it can be confusing to find the correct bus to Uganda Lodge so again you may wish us to assist you.
Safaris
Once you are at Uganda Lodge, and begin volunteering, you may decide that you would like to see some more of the country and go on a safari or just to visit nearby places such as the markets, hot springs and lakes
